Vincent Kompany, Preston Zimmerman & his SV Hamburg hope to win top spot of Group D by beating Swiss side FC Basel 1893. Hamburg were the first German team to make it to the next round & have proven to be a major force in the UEFA CUP as well as the Bundeslige. Although set to lose Dutch star Rafael van der Vaart, Hamburg is bent on proving that their European ambitions are no dream.

Group F side FC Bayern Munich face a different prospective on Matchday 5. Bayern will play for to seal a place in the Round of 32 when they meet FC Aris Thessaloniki of Greece in the Allianz Arena. Both sides are gunning for top spot in their group & with Bolton Wanderers sealing their place in the next round, A war between Aris Thessaloniki, Bayern Munich & Sporting Braga will erupt for the last 2 places. Bayern will be hoping for insiparational moves from Podolski, Klose & Toni to spice up their already dreadful European season. Defeat for either side will spell a disastrous fixture with any of the 8 clubs who finish 3rd in the UEFA Champions League Group stage.
Bayer 04 Leverkusen have a daunting task of beating Swiss side FC Zurich away. Leverkusen's European away form has been dismal since their 2-0 win over Israelian club Maccabi Haifa in the 2002/2003 UEFA Champions League. However both sides are assured of a spot in the Round of 32. But Simon Rofles & Stefan Kiessling is bent on gaining a better finish in the group even without star midfielder Bernd Schneider & no1 keeper Rene Adler.
1. FC Nurnberg would be hoping to be the last German side to qualify for the UEFA Cup Round of 32. The League Cup winners, having perform a miracle season in 2006/2007 are hoping for all 3 points when they take on Larissa FC of Greece. But a draw, along with Dutch side AZ Alkmaar's defeat to England's Everton FC would also see them through. But the Dutch side boast a 32-match unbeaten home record so Nurnberg would not be looking for favours from Everton.
